We’ve only had about about a dozen major life changes since I’ve been up for blogging, so why not cover the basics?!

Baby Boy was born April 4. He finally got his name about 5 hours before we left the hospital on Sunday morning – Silas Jean. More on that later. But, basically, we love him and he’s the chillest baby everrr. Or he’s wild. I guess we won’t really know til we have another… til then can he please just stop growing???

We moved back home to Texas! Oh the glory. We took the long way home and little Silas documented our trip the whole way home. Here he is at his first Whataburger. God bless Texas.

Between Silas being born and packing/moving from Milwaukee, Matt was receiving acceptance letters to law schools all over Texas. It wasn’t until about halfway through summer that he officially decided to go to school at Texas A&M Law in Fort Worth – 30 minutes away from my family. I’m so thankful to be near them after our year in the tundra.

Since Matt went with the more school option instead of the getting a job option, we had another free summer to spend together this time with a chunky 2 month old baby boy. Back and forth we went between my family and his to ensure everyone got their fix of baby snuggles. Four hour drives are tough with a baby, but Silas was a champ and would only scream for about 30 minutes of the 4 hour ride. Here he is taking his shirt off at a Dixie Chicks concert…

Even more tough than driving around the country with a baby is living at your parents house with a single suitcase worth of your own things for three and half months. All of our stuff was packed away until our house was ready to move into. Literally, I had two pairs of shoes and ten shirts.

We are fortunate that my parents own a rent house a mere 7 minutes away from them (and 25 minutes to Matt’s school!), and they happily wanted us to be their renters. Naturally, there was some updating to do to the house. We thought – new wall colors, new floor in just the living room/kitchen area, maybe some new plugs here and there. It turned in to – fixing termite damage, installing new windows, updating all plumbing under the sinks, installing new sinks and appliances, installing new AC unit, redoing all floors, removing popcorn ceiling, installing new light/fan fixtures, painting everything, adding new trim. My parents are go big or go home… even when it’s mostly DIY.

In the mix of renovating a house, Matt started law school. He’s dreading the idea of being in school for 3 more years, but he also seems to like law more than we thought he would. This first semester is halfway done, and I hope the other five fly by as quickly. But, Silas can you please stop growing??
— 8 — (bonus, oooh ooooh!)
Silas also joined the church! He fell asleep during some readings and remained asleep as the water passed over his head, but I’m pretty sure it still counts ;)
Linking up with Kelly on this fine quick takes Friday :)
Happy weekend y’all :)
